In the book, In the Greater World, inspired by Andre Luiz and psychographed by Chico Xavier, there is a scene where a very high spirit comes to the aid of a discarnated spirit who was murdered. He had been persecuting his murderer for over twenty years. The high spirit, a woman, tried to reason with him to drop his useless obsession and forgive. When the man told of the injustice and suffering, she responded; Read More.
Zabdiel starts out his communication with the Rev. G Vale Owen, on November 19, 1913, talking about how people from all around the world will come to know Jesus Christ. Whereas they may not know him as to his “Natural Divinity” , which I take to mean his composition and power as a spiritual entity, but will come to him because of His acts of kindness and love while in human form on earth.
Hence, it is through love that we must take the first step toward knowing Jesus and what he taught, for without the foundation of the feeling of love, nothing else can be built upon it. Zabdiel explains:
“Foremost they must love. That is the first commandment of all, and the greatest. And hard have men found it to keep. They all agree that to love one another is good; and when they come to translate the sentiment into action, how sadly do they fail. And yet, without love no thing in the universe would stand, but fall into decay and dissolution. It is the love of God which energizes through all that is; and we can see that love, if we look for it, everywhere. The best way to understand many things is to contrast them with their opposites. The opposite of love is dissolution; because that comes from refraining from the exertion to love. Hatred is also of the opposite, and yet not the essence of it; because hatred of one person is often a mistaken method of expressing love to another.”
Dissolution or apathy is a major problem in our world today. People have a hard time feeling. We are buffeted with shocking or pornographic images on a constant basis, we lose the ability to muster the energy to love. Hence, some take to drugs or alcohol to supply the stimulate to begin to feel, others become fanatical about a cause and lose all reason and empathy for different points of view.
Hatred is the welling-up of a primitive emotion. It is unfocused mental energy which leads to the radiation of confusion and bad feelings to all around the person dwelling on hate. There is power in hate, but it is destructive and causes more problems than it one supposes it solves.
Zabdiel also tells us that hatred also affects doctrines. Where if one becomes a member of one organization, such as a religion or a gang, then you must hate all other rivals. He, quite rightly, warns us that constant hate makes it more difficult to love, to love anything else, when hate consumes all.
Lastly, Zabdiel notifies us that we must start with love, for without love we are unable to climb the ladder to perfection:
“This is one of those things which make it difficult in this life of the spheres. For not until a man has learned to love all without hating any is he able to progress in this land where love means light, and those who do not love move in dim places where they lose their way, and often become so dull in mind and heart that their perception of the truth is a vague as that of outward things.”
Your capacity to love greatly determines where you shall go after physical death. Zabdiel doesn’t desire any spirit to have to live in the Lower Zones or the Abyss. In these undesirable places the common denominator is the absence of love for others.
The Spirituality loves us all and has illuminated a path for us to climb toward goodness. It’s not a steep path, but it is also not the easiest. It simply takes effort to rid ourselves of our primitive urges and to open our hearts to love and kindness. To wait one moment before letting emotions run over us and consider the feelings and what they went through of the other person.
The first place is to learn what the basic tenets of Spiritism are and how your life is planned so you can improve. How to look at Life from the 10,000 foot level. It is important to our mental health to analyze our life as if we are on top of a mountain, peering down at the path we are traveling. On the ground it appears rough and rocky. With many twists and turns. But, from on high, it is actually relatively smooth and straight. Our life is a planned series of episodes designed to make us a better soul. Learn to accept and embrace it. Click here to watch my YouTube video.
In ancient Greece (469 – 399 BC), Socrates was widely lauded for his wisdom. He espoused many of the same beliefs that Jesus would present to the world 400 years later. As Spiritist we need to control our thoughts and not speak ill of others. In fact, we should seek out times to speak well of others. Socrates gives a great lesson on gossip. Read More.

The Rev G. Vale Owen wrote a series of four books in the early 1900’s. Unbeknownst to many at the time, he added to the revelations about Spiritism, which commenced in the 1850’s by Allan Kardec. In the compilation of four books, The Life Beyond the Veil, more of the fantastic world that we shall, as spirits, return to was presented to us. One of the most startling aspects of the book is the role of faith. Not faith as we know it, but faith as a real power, the ability to conjure. Far beyond any of our earthly fantasies. Read More.
In the book, Sex and Destiny, by the spirit Andre Luiz, psychographed by Francisco C. Xavier, there is an institute, Almas Irmas, “Fraternal Souls” in English, which assists spirits which have spent time in their own purgatory. Almas Irmas specializes helping spirits with criminal and obsessive history concerning their sexual behavior. At any one time, the institute will have between five and six thousand souls in residence.[2013, p. 289]
Just to be clear, the Spirit world is not a prude, they advocate equality for all humans, whether heterosexual, bisexual, homosexual, or transgender. What you must not do, is hurt people with your sexual behavior. The interesting point to consider; I have read about this attitude from the 1850’s, when The Spirits Book was published to 1963, when Sex and Destiny was first published. Well before our present day mode of thinking.
Therefore, the spirits attending the institute, must have performed deeds they were extremely ashamed of and diligently desired to change their conduct.
Here are their success rates (in %’s)
- 18% – Successfully conquered their tendencies.
- 22% – Grew spiritually, but did not completely change their behavior.
- 26% – Barely grew spiritually or changed their behavior.
- 34% – Actually grew worse and incurred more spiritual debts, which must be repaid.

Are you experiencing problems with some of your family and have no reason why? You have tried everything and they still just don’t like you? Or worse, are they are nice to you and you can’t help yourself but to reject them? There is a reason, and as part of your trials on earth, you have been reborn with past adversaries, it may have been a rival, a person who assaulted you, or a myriad of reasons for that indistinct feeling of revulsion.
