There have been known Satan worshippers for thousands of years. Before Christ, people worshiped Baal (and other entities), and fed that deity with the sacrifice of children or adults. People will worship demigods for various reasons. Out of ignorance, out of hatred for their perceived hypocrisy of a more mainstream religion, or out of their perception that evil spirits can do more for them than good spirits. The latter is what I wish to concentrate on, for there are more powerful people in the world who believe this than most of us imagine.
